The I.G.S. Academy offers the following courses:

Course Descriptions
Security Guard Program (Intensive)

Accredited by Emploi Qu�bec and designed to integrate candidates into the work market quickly and inexpensively, this program consists of accelerated training in four main areas: theory; first aid training (accredited by the CSST); defensive weapons, and a familiarisation session with firearms. A course exam is mandatory for the theory and first aid training modules in order to receive the diploma.

Sergeant and Team Leader Program

Designed ideally for experienced security guards, this intensive program consists of a review of regular security procedures and components, and of the teaching of the organisation of security coverage and the command of security personnel from a client-based perspective. Candidates will become familiar with procedures such as staffing, deploying and leading security teams and conducting liaison with clients, private security agencies and public bodies.

VIP Protection Officer Program

This program is intended for candidates possessing either experience in security and protection or skill and talent that will enable them to protect an elite clientele. The program consists of several modules including:

  • Familiarity of client habits and vulnerabilities
  • Familiarity of the work environment (ex: location of nearest hospitals, police stations, and hotels).
  • Knowledge of the law in the jurisdiction of work
  • Handling of firearms
  • Communications equipment
  • Cartography (map reading)
  • Advanced first aid
  • Emergency driving
  • Protection methods and tactics

Candidates must possess a sense of organisation, cool-headedness and people skills. Experience in martial arts is neither a requirement nor an advantage to the program.

Firearms Handling Perfection Program

Designed mainly for individuals working in the field of security, this program can also accommodate individuals not in this field who simply wish to practice shooting. Non-security personnel must provide a letter of clearance from the MUC Police Department stating they do not have a criminal record.
 

 

 


Unarmed Combat Training

Open to security personnel and non-security personnel alike, the courses include the teaching of a variety of attack and defence tactics and techniques. The sessions are strongly recommended for individuals in the security field, individuals who work in high risk situations and individuals who believe themselves at risk of aggression. Special attention is paid to women and senior citizens.
